Privacy
In short: this site doesn't track you. No analytics, no ads and no third-party cookies.
Who am I?
Pim Uijttewaal, from Nieuwveen in the Netherlands. Do you have a question about privacy? Feel free to send me a message via the contact form.
What happens on this site?
No tracking. I don't use analytics, advertising services or social media scripts. Fonts, scripts and images all come from this site itself. I also fetch the artist photos myself and store them here, so your browser doesn't request anything from Wikipedia or Wikimedia for them.
An anonymous counter. To know which pages get read, I count visits myself, without cookies and without your IP address or any other data that could identify you. Only a daily total per page is kept, plus the number of clicks on a few buttons and links. If “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” is switched on in your browser, I don't count you.
Your settings. Things like party mode, the animations, the volume and your language choice are remembered by your own browser (in its storage, sometimes only until you close the tab). They are not sent to me and I don't use them for anything.
Listening to Radio 2 live. When you click the radio, your browser connects directly to the NPO Radio 2 stream. That is between you and NPO, not via me, and NPO's own rules apply. I fetch the track that is playing from NPO myself, whether or not anyone is watching.
Technical logs. Like any website, the server records technical data such as your IP address, the time, the page requested and your browser type. This is needed to keep the site working and secure. I don't use that data to follow you or build a profile of you, and I don't keep it longer than necessary.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, I receive by email what you fill in: your name, your email address, the subject, your message and, if you wish, your phone number (which is entirely optional). You can't send attachments. I only use it to reply to you, I don't pass it on to anyone else and I don't keep it longer than necessary. If you choose to receive a copy as well, I send it to the email address you entered.
To guard against programs that fill in the form automatically, the form uses a small sum with a signed code. No cookies are needed for that. To stop anyone flooding the form, the server remembers an encrypted abbreviation of your IP address for an hour, from which the address itself cannot be recovered.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, such as NPO Radio 2, Wikipedia and The Jumping Fox. Once you follow such a link, that site's privacy rules apply.
Your rights
You may ask me which data I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its use. Send a message via the contact form to do so. Don't agree with how I handle your data? Then you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
